About
Juan Ariztmendy
I trained as a graphic designer at Taller 5 in Colombia, and I work out of Houston, Texas.
I work with founders and owners directly, with no account layer and no handoff to someone you have not met. That is deliberate: the person who asks the awkward questions on the first call is the person who designs the thing.
Most of what I do falls into two halves. One is interfaces that have to work: apps and websites where a wrong flow costs real money. The other is identity: marks and systems that have to still look right in ten years, on a screen and on a truck door.
The name
Oak mountain
Ariztmendy is a Basque surname. Haritz means oak, mendi means mountain, so the name reads, literally, as the mountain of the oak. The peak above the i in the logo is that, and nothing else.
